Particle Effects editor

Does anyone know how to use the particle effects editor?

I've extracted and decrypted a PTL and opened it with the effects editor. it shows the list of effects in the PTL and such. but most of them are "Unresolved".

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks

Particle Effects Editor?

I thought you just decrypt the file and use note pad to edit it.

That's what I've been doing. but there is a particle effects editor in the misc mod tools. it seems to be a bit broken, but if you open a decrypter ptl it will load it in and even let you edit values and such. but it says unresolved for most of the particle defs. It's missing something.

It should be able to play a preview of the particle for you. I have the TGA directory set to a file with all of the games TGA files in it. so it has the tga resources. maybe it's trying to pull info from other PTL files that aren't there?

ok ok i forgot about it as it's been that long since i looked at it ....
just had a quick play with it but will look more in the morning ....

No worries. Its morning for me here haha.

It seems that it is missing something for the effects. The particle defs are now showing resolved, but the effects are not. It must be looking for information that isnt there or isn't sourced correctly.

I'll keep working with it later when i get off work. Let me know what you find.

This tool would be huge if we can get it working. I can get by with editing particles in notepad, but its so time consuming and editing the tables is a nightmare.

This editor would make it much easier and faster.

I spent a bit of time over Easter looking at it....some bits work and other bits not so much.

I'm going to put it down to a defunk bit of tool lol. Partly working...
I did ask a few and they said they do it by hand, slow way to do it but works.

Thanks for checking it out. Such a shame. I plan on overhauling a lot more particles than I already have. It's going to be slow and tedious with the PTL files. But I know my way around them pretty well.

This tool would be amazing if working.
