What is a Mod?

A MOD is short for Modification.
You could also call this an Add-On or Expansion to the original game.
Mods are not stand alone, you will need the original game e.g. BHD to play a mod.
Mods can vary in size and what they contain.
A mod can be very small which might only change the weapons loadout, a few kb's in size to a full mod of over 1Gig.
Some of the typical things you might find are:
- Re-skinned Weapons, Buildings, Vehicles...
- New Weapons, Buildings, Vehicles...
- New or Imported Terrains
- New Sound Files for Weapons
Always remember to make a backup of your original game folder before installing any mods.
Once you have installed a mod, you might get booted or banned if you join a Novalogic server. Make sure you join a server for that mod.
